Nothing but Song Presents Discotheque

I found a few useful plugins for Discotheque. For one thing, I opened up registration, because as I mentioned in the previous blog, I am going to make Discotheque stand out more against other web directories.

I also found a neat little plugin called Import Users, which allowed me to add everyone who has registered a site here in the past. So if you got an email from me, please do add yourself to the registered users list of Discotheque. I have a lot of goodies planned in the future. It’s not required, but it’s nice to keep in touch with everyone who has registered a site here, I think.

I dunno if you know this, but every site that is added to Discotheque is added by hand. WordPress has not yet created a plugin for web directories. I hope someone reads this and does something about it though! It’s basically me and some plugins doin’ the work here.

It’s a bit complicated, I suppose, but I like that personal touch. Anybody can mass approve websites with the click of a button. But I think it takes an even cooler person to sit there and copy/paste every listing on their directory. I really do visit every site listed here at Discotheque when they are submitted. Not only to see if they’re following the rules, but to expose myself to different sites. I love what people do with their sites! It inspires me to step up my own game.

I decided to do some cleaning up. I got rid of the Cliques, Domains, Forums and Hosting categories, due to unpopular demand, haha.

So anything that was listed in Cliques, Forums, and Hosting were moved to Miscellany.

Domains were combined with Personal Sites.

I’m also going to allow images to submitted on the form, so that people can distinguish your site from others. I just need to clean up the submission form.

If you’d like to add a button to an already existing listing, please e-mail me directly. I will send an email to everyone who has listed in the past, just to let them know. So don’t be surprised!

I’m also thinking of adding a button rotation. I’m not sure what size yet though. I’ll post again here when I’ve got an idea.

I also deleted a few unused categories, such as Plugboards, haha.
